Prepare to be captivated by the sheer beauty and artistry of the Leela Youth Dance Company, known for their awe-inspiring performances.

Ananda extends its heartfelt gratitude to the esteemed Leela Youth Dance Company for their generous support and enchanting performance this evening at Ananda Thousand Oaks.

Dancers will depict beautiful stories from Krishna’s life through their performances showcasing classical Kathak dance from North India, including pristine footwork and pirouettes, all accompanied by a narrator to guide and engage the audience. Join us and bear witness to their talent, and the magic they bring to their performances.

Leela Youth Dance Company is an elite pre-professional, audition-based training and performing group under the mentorship and artistic direction of Leela Dance Collective artist and co-founder Rukhmani Mehta. The program champions excellence in Kathak dance with students training rigorously 5 hours/week in addition to home practice.

Leela Youth Dance Company also serves as a platform for dance empowerment and youth leadership, where teens become advocates and rising young leaders and ambassadors for Indian artistic heritage. LYDC has performed nationally in numerous prestigious venues and festivals, including the WorldWideWomen’s Girl’s Festival, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Philadelphia Youth Festival, San Francisco Symphony Hall alongside students of the San Francisco Ballet.
