Inspiration, devotion, and community -gathering together in divine joy
“God is nearer than the near; dearer than the dear — knowable as the closest friend.” -Paramhansa Yogananda.
Through meditation and uplifted consciousness in daily life (awareness, kindness, openness), we become more aware of ourselves as spiritual beings. Ananda Sunday services are gatherings for spiritual inspiration and high consciousness. Come gather with like-minded souls for upliftment and fellowship.
Service includes: prayer, chanting, meditation and inspirational readings from the Bible and the Bhagavad Gita, in the tradition of Paramhansa Yogananda.
10:00 am – 10:45 am: Fire Ceremony, Purification Ceremony, Meditation.
Light from fire is generally for purification and burning away of the desires and attachments that keep us from achieving deeper states of inner freedom. The fire ceremony is used as a means of symbolically doing this. By offering our attachments and desires into the fire, we use an outer act to help us affirm the inner resolve to let go of the things that are holding us back spiritually.
11:00 am – 12:15 pm: Sunday Service (You can arrive just before 11:00am to attend only this portion of service if preferable.)
Ananda services are nonsectarian and open to all. Whether you are a truth-seeker exploring meditation for the first time or seeking deeper understanding of spirituality and the meaning and purpose of life, you are welcome.
Sunday services are free. Donations welcomed.
NOTE: Sunday Services will initially be held MONTHLY at Ananda Thousand Oaks. They are not, yet, weekly.
“Your religion is not the garb you wear outwardly, but the garment of light you weave around your heart. The thoughts and beliefs in which you enclose yourself are not you. Discover who you are behind those outer trappings, and you will discover who Jesus was, and Buddha, and Krishna. For the masters come to earth for the purpose of holding up to every man a reflection of his deeper, eternal Self.”
