Ananda’s Annual All-Day Meditation

Note: This event takes place at Ananda West L.A.

11870 Santa Monica Blvd, Ste. 208
Los Angeles, CA

Every Christmas Season, Ananda around the globe holds an all-day meditation on the 23rd of December just as Paramhansa Yogananda did years ago. Keeping the tradition alive with devotees around the world, we have an 8-hour meditation to inspire a deep sense of Christ-Consciousness to hold the light and open our hearts to the beauty and joy of this season.

This is an extraordinary opportunity to spend a day, or part of a day, diving as deeply into the inner silence as you are able, supported by dozens of other meditators.

If you have some interest in meditation, think about participating in at least some of this very special meditation. It is wonderful to see how touched and inspired people are by their experience of this event.

Here are some tips for the day:

Please keep silence throughout the day.

Preparation: Rather than a heavy breakfast, eat light, easy to digest, foods—or fast. Some people like to bring a light snack for the midday break.

Clothing: Dress in loose, soft, comfortable clothes, a little warmer than usual and a blanket or shawl. Don’t bring nylon clothes or plastic bags that may cause a sound.

What to bring: Chairs and cushions will be available, but you may wish to bring personal cushions.  Bring earplugs and an Aum board if you use one. If you bring water, have it in a bottle which does not make noise.

What not to bring: Your mobile phone – or make arrangements so you can keep it switched off (not vibrate mode). Please don’t come if you have a cold with persistent coughing or sneezing and please quietly leave the room if a coughing or sneezing fit occurs during the silent meditation.

If you leave early: If you arrive after 10am or leave before 6pm, it is preferable that you enter or exit during chanting breaks. If you leave at other times, please do so very quietly with respect for those in deep meditation.

“Let us meditate until we perceive the Infinite Christ reigning in our own hearts.  Let us learn to love those who love us not; and to forgive those who do ill against us. Let us break all our mental boundaries of color, creed, and nationality, and receive all-even our inanimate and animal brothers-in the endless, all-embracing arms of our Christ Consciousness. This will be a true and fitting celebration of the coming of Jesus Christ to this earth.”

– Paramahansa Yogananda  From The Second Coming of Christ

This event is free – Donations are welcomed.
