The Yamas & Niyamas are the foundation upon which the yogi begins to build his spiritual life.

We probably all tend to control our physical behaviors, but do we do the harder work to control our thought tendencies? In this two night introduction to Patanjali’s Yamas and Niyamas, we will explore habits and attitudes that either support or hinder inner peace, spiritual growth, and deeper happiness. We’re not only talking about outward practices, but also inner attitudes. If inner attitudes are correct, outwardly they are expressed properly for spiritual expansion. By directionally making an effort now, we can save ourselves incarnations.

Patanjali helps us make choices that eliminate suffering.

This two night discussion is based on Swami Kriyananda’s book, Demystifying Patanjali, based on the teachings of the great Self-realized Master, Paramhansa Yogananda.

This discussion is for everyone. Swami called his book “Demystifying Patanjali” because Patanjali describes the route every soul takes as our consciousness expands its journey toward enlightenment.

How do we make spiritual progress? Patanjali show’s us the roadmap. Our first evening we will discuss Patanjali’s Yamas:Ahimsa, Satya, Asteya, Bramacharya, Aparagraha.

Second evening we will discuss the Niyamas:  Saucha, Santosha, Tapasya, Swadhyaya, Ishvara Pranidhana.
